10/10/07 Get A Jump On Brush And Weeds! Two things that can really help with those brush and weed problems; a little good planning, and early action. You are already aware of the areas that give you trouble, and if you jump on them early, you have a better chance of winning the fight. Knowing ahead of time gives you the advantage, so you can make out a plan to have what you need on hand, and be ready to go when spring is sprung. This gives you the advantage of the "juvenility factor." That is just a way of saying that it is much better to attack the plants when they are young and tender and can easily absorb the mixture. After plants have become hardened to the conditions, it is more difficult to kill them. That reminds me. There is a problem that I sometimes encounter when someone calls me to take care of a weed or brush problem. They have usually tried something, that didn't work. They may have sprayed too much chemical, which killed the tops of the plants before the roots had a chance to absorb it, or were afraid, and used too little, which will now slow the plants uptake of any other products used. They usually say something like "It should be easy to kill them now, I already sprayed them once!" Of course the opposite is really true. Guys, the label directions are there for a reason! Read them and follow the directions closely. There is a lot of testing behind them. |
